docrafts® Creativity Magazine Feature

2016 seems like it's off to a great start here at Sew Can Do HQ (aka my home craft room). I'm geared up to sew & craft more regularly, working through my stash more, feeling less self-imposed pressure to "do it all" and I've got a wonderful new feature in docrafts® Creativity Magazine!

Their Winter Issue 85 is all about creating your own craft space, so it was a real honor to have them ask if they could include my craft room in their featured cover story and have a bonus Q&A section with me in it too.

My craft room is a bit out of the ordinary since it's a small double duty space I've put together myself.  As I'm not a DIY guru, and haven't had a giant room to spare or money-no-object budget, it's definitely a real world kind of place anyone can do.

Half is for sewing & crafts:

The other for a bit of cooking, baking & ironing.  Plus, it's no bigger than most laundry rooms:

I was so thrilled to get my copy of magazine just after the holidays (it's been available in the UK since December). Not only did the article turn out great, but there were lots of other neat ideas & projects in the magazine.  Several of those are now on my to-make list for 2016.  Plus each issue comes with a few bonus goodies.  This one has these cute coordinating stickers and year diary:

The magazine, with cover gifts, is available at most UK newsagents (and via international mail for those of us across the pond).  I found in digital format on iTunes and here too.

I've also got a lovely extended interview post over at the docrafts blog, where I share more of how I set up my dream craft room, as well as key tips & tricks for putting together an ideal space.  You can find it HERE.  Wishing everyone their dream craft space for 2016!!

Room To Create: My Craft Room Feature

This week I'm making up for lost time by sewing as much as I can & getting creative instead of writing tutorials, but I do have something new to share...I'm in the premiere issue of Room To Create Magazine!

This magazine is all about places to craft & create and shares the crafty spaces and studios of several designers, as well as some favorite craft bloggers.  When I was originally approached about being featured I didn't know I'd be among such big names.  I'm very honored to be included!  My room has got a lovely spread that shares some great photos and how I've maximized my small space with strategic organizing.

It also showcases the lovely EZ View and Helen Sewing desks I bought from The Original Scrapbox and then customized for a unique Sew Can Do look.

I've had them for over a year now and things still look this neat and organized.  I can't recommend them enough!!

And if you think that a dream craft room is out of your budget's reach, requires more space than you have, or is only for serious craft bloggers, check out my post sharing how I got my Small Space Dream Craft Room to come true (it's easier than you think).  See how I started with my original $85 Craft Room post and follow-up Craft Room tour too.

It may not happen overnight, but I'm proof that it can happen, no matter where you start!

You can find this issue of Room To Create at Target, Barnes and Noble, Wal-Mart, Hobby Lobby and many grocery stores through the end of March.

Sew Can Do's YUM Food & Fun Magazine Debut

Today I'm proud to share that I'm in the latest issue of YUM Food & Fun Magazine!!

This quarterly magazine is full of fun, food-related projects & products, recipes and party ideas that are fabulous for kids.  They pack an enormous amount of great content in each issue, so it's a goldmine of goodies for us crafty types.  I'm a contributor to the "Cool Ideas" of the new Spring 2013 issue, currently on newsstands.

I was asked to share my popular sculptable frosting and some all new spring-themed designs using it:

I also show how to make my "peeptastic" spring chick, plus some handy tips & tricks for making sculpted frosting look awesome.

It's a really fantastic magazine for anyone who loves food, crafts & kids.  Loads of meal ideas, recipes, things kids can do & more.  I'd say it was awesome even if I wasn't in it! These are just some of the other great things you can find inside:

And they've got lots of good stuff on their website too.  I'm very honored to be part of this issue:)
I Was Featured
You can find YUM Food & Fun at select Barnes and Noble, Target, Wal-Mart stores and on newsstands.  You can also subscribe to it here.  I hope you'll go check it out!

Guess Who's In Stitch Magazine? My Fuzzy Hedgehog Duo.

I've been so excited about this for months, it's been hard to wait to share this - my Fuzzy Hedgehog Tote and Pillow patterns are in the Fall 2012 issue of Stitch Magazine!
I came up with this design as a special item for my daughter's birthday last year.  Some of you may remember this hot pink hedgie pillow from the post I did of her cupcake party pics:
I did a little redesigning to create a fun, fleece tote bag project for the School Days section in this new issue of Stitch:
They asked me to do the original pillow style too, so both versions of the hedgehog are included:
And besides being in the issue on newsstands, the pattern itself is available as a free download (the instructions are all in the magazine).  Digital versions of the entire issue are available here.  There are loads of fun projects & wearables in it.

I have to say, I kind of feel like a sewing rock star when I walk past the magazine section at Joann's these days.  I get to see this and the summer issue of Quilts & More (which features my Fresh Start bag) sitting right out there.  This must be how celebrities feel when they're in the check-out line.  Except no one else knows it's me...but it still feels great.  I almost had my husband take a picture of me standing there and pointing to them like a crazy, but I'm saving up that level of crazy for next time.  No matter what, it always feels amazing to see my name in print next to the words "Designed By":)
