docrafts® Creativity Magazine Feature

2016 seems like it's off to a great start here at Sew Can Do HQ (aka my home craft room). I'm geared up to sew & craft more regularly, working through my stash more, feeling less self-imposed pressure to "do it all" and I've got a wonderful new feature in docrafts® Creativity Magazine!

Their Winter Issue 85 is all about creating your own craft space, so it was a real honor to have them ask if they could include my craft room in their featured cover story and have a bonus Q&A section with me in it too.

My craft room is a bit out of the ordinary since it's a small double duty space I've put together myself.  As I'm not a DIY guru, and haven't had a giant room to spare or money-no-object budget, it's definitely a real world kind of place anyone can do.

Half is for sewing & crafts:

The other for a bit of cooking, baking & ironing.  Plus, it's no bigger than most laundry rooms:

I was so thrilled to get my copy of magazine just after the holidays (it's been available in the UK since December). Not only did the article turn out great, but there were lots of other neat ideas & projects in the magazine.  Several of those are now on my to-make list for 2016.  Plus each issue comes with a few bonus goodies.  This one has these cute coordinating stickers and year diary:

The magazine, with cover gifts, is available at most UK newsagents (and via international mail for those of us across the pond).  I found in digital format on iTunes and here too.

I've also got a lovely extended interview post over at the docrafts blog, where I share more of how I set up my dream craft room, as well as key tips & tricks for putting together an ideal space.  You can find it HERE.  Wishing everyone their dream craft space for 2016!!

Room To Create: My Craft Room Feature

This week I'm making up for lost time by sewing as much as I can & getting creative instead of writing tutorials, but I do have something new to share...I'm in the premiere issue of Room To Create Magazine!

This magazine is all about places to craft & create and shares the crafty spaces and studios of several designers, as well as some favorite craft bloggers.  When I was originally approached about being featured I didn't know I'd be among such big names.  I'm very honored to be included!  My room has got a lovely spread that shares some great photos and how I've maximized my small space with strategic organizing.

It also showcases the lovely EZ View and Helen Sewing desks I bought from The Original Scrapbox and then customized for a unique Sew Can Do look.

I've had them for over a year now and things still look this neat and organized.  I can't recommend them enough!!

And if you think that a dream craft room is out of your budget's reach, requires more space than you have, or is only for serious craft bloggers, check out my post sharing how I got my Small Space Dream Craft Room to come true (it's easier than you think).  See how I started with my original $85 Craft Room post and follow-up Craft Room tour too.

It may not happen overnight, but I'm proof that it can happen, no matter where you start!

You can find this issue of Room To Create at Target, Barnes and Noble, Wal-Mart, Hobby Lobby and many grocery stores through the end of March.

Revealing The Red Riding Hood Party

Rawrr!  Did he scare you?  Don't worry - he's a friendly wolf:

Just look, he's trying to be nice - really:

I recently collaborated with the lovely Bird of Bird's Party for a special Red Riding Hood themed party and this Little Wolf Hat (and Red's Hood) were my custom creations.

Bird came up with the Red Riding Hood Woodland Party theme, designed some adorable customizable printables and did this phenomenal photoshoot:

Look at the sweet toadstool & flower accents:

And here are my Red Riding Hood cape & Little Wolf Hat en scene:

They were such fun to do that I've added them to a special Fairy Tale section of my shop, which can be found here.  I love how the party turned out & was thrilled to find it featured over at Hostess With The Mostess!

Party Vendors and Designers:

Party Printable Design and Styling: Bird's Party
Red Cape and Wolf Hat: The Green Hedgehog
Decorated Toadstool Cookies: Allyson Jane
Chocolate Toadstools: Andie's Specialty Sweets
Photography: Bird

Tea Lover's Project Paradise!

So many of you left such sweet comments on my Tea Party Birthday & all the projects I made for it - it makes a girl feel so proud!!  Especially because I NEVER thought of myself being the type to throw a beautiful party without any design help or using pre-made stuff.  Proof positive that with a little effort & patience, anyone can get crafty!

I'll be doing some individual project posts soon to show how I did a few things, but for those of you who can't get enough tea-related projects, right this minute, there's good news!  Muffins and More is doing an entire Tea Lover's Roundup and is featuring my Teapot Invitation & Tea Party for today's projects.  Yay!  Stop by & check out all the fun tea themed goodies.

And if you still can't get enough tea stuff, August was Tea Cup Month over at Luv In The Mommyhood & yours truly's tea party is linked up there too.

And for those of you that don't like tea (if that's even possible!), head over to Train To Crazy's Sewing for Baby Month and check out my Moses Basket Bedding Tutorial which has kicked off a month full of baby-themed projects.

Viking Baby Hairdo Hat's Big Debut!

Well I was going to do a post about my latest Hairdo Hat creation next week, but it's already getting press elsewhere, so I'd better let my faithful readers know right now!  I call it the Viking Baby Hairdo Hat. The fleece "helmet" has attached horns & thick blonde braids.  Cuddly, but fierce!!  Babies really like wearing it (my model was in love with her reflection in the mirror and couldn't stop smiling at it) and adults love looking at it.   Now even the baldest of babies can:

Star in an opera,

Cheer at a game,

Or just get festive any old day!

I make the braids optional (so the boys don't have to miss out on "viking" it up) and the hat can also be purple for Minnesota football fans.  I just started offering this hat in my Etsy shop and was informed today that it made Parenting.com's Buying Guide:
40 + Cool Homemade Halloween Costumes!!  My little hat is #3!  What an amazing surprise AND honor!  My craft nerd self is beyond excited.  Click HERE to check it out. What a great start to the holiday weekend:)

Hairdo Hat Happenings

Photobucket
What a great way to round out the weekend - my Hairdo Hats have got their own feature over at Someday Crafts.  Michelle always has tons of great things on her blog, so I'm honored for the spotlight on my little faux 'dos.  All the positive feedback from everyone has given me the kick in the pants I need.  I'm doing to make a few available on Etsy in the near future and at that time will also do a giveaway so some lucky baby will win a Hairdo Hat of her own!
