Getting My Craft On with Staples: A Craft Shopping Review

When you shop for crafting supplies do you ever think to look at Staples?  I'll be honest, I sure didn't.  It's always been where I buy things like toner, printer paper & school supplies, but I'd never really thought of it as a source for crafting gear.  When Staples asked me to do a shopping review of what they offer beyond office stuff, I thought, "Ok, I suppose I could find a few sort-of craft-related items".  Then I started checking out Staples online and to say I was surprised is an understatement.  They are a crafting SUPERSTORE!

There is a lot more online than in stores.  You just need to know where to look on their site. Under Scrapbooking they've got hundreds of supplies like card stock print stacks, embellishments, organizers - even Cricut & die cut machines!  There are loads of items under Drawing/Arts/Crafts too.  Under Craft Kits they have supplies for clay sculpting, candle making, woodburning, screen printing - even chair caning!  Stuff I'd never even seen in the craft giant stores.  And that's in addition to a slew of art & kid's project supplies.  I felt like I'd been let in on a huge secret on finding special crafting gear.

And how were the actual items?

I got this fabulous storage cupboard and was wowed.  I love how it was ready to hang right out of the box and is nice & sturdy.  The deep pull out drawers even have acrylic window fronts so I could slip in some scrapbook paper to customize them.  It's added extra space for my ribbon & bead supplies and made my craft room look more put together too.

For smaller stuff they had loads of organizer boxes & trays.  I got this multi-tiered storage box for holding all my hot glue gear.  I love that I can have everything within grabbing distance wherever I'm working, but it only takes seconds to put everything away.

I liked how they offer a lot of starter kits for crafts too.  I decided to try some things that were new to me like wire writing for jewelry & scrapbooking.  I'm stil getting the hang of it, but I liked being able to have everything in one set using this wire writing kit.

I also tried out a stamp carving kit.  It had everything I needed to get started and was a lot of fun.  I'm going to share more about making stamps in a follow-up post because I thought it was so cool.

And to go with it I got a Colorbox pinwheel stamp.  Not only does it look beautiful & store easily, but each of the petals pulls out so it's easy to do custom rainbows or single colors.

The prices are reasonable and a lot of items offer free shipping or free shipping to your local store.  Rewards members get free shipping on everything & 5% back and it's free to sign up - free shipping is always a big plus to me!  It shipped quick too, so that was a nice surprise.  I'm always impatient when I'm waiting for crafting stuff to arrive.  Everything was nicer than I expected too, which made it even better.

I love discovering new sources for my crafting needs and I definitely count Staples as one of my go-to places now!

I was not financially compensated for this post and received the items shown to review.  The opinions are completely my own based on my experience.
