Adding A Little Embellishment

Since baby related things are all I seem to have on the brain these days as I'm entering the final weeks of pregnancy, making tiny stuff has taken up the bulk of my crafting time. I've literally made up an entire girl's layette from scratch + some neutral looking hand-me-downs left from my boys, which has been a great feeling (and easy on the budget). I scooped up a pack of plain white organic onesies a while ago and spent some time thinking up ways to make them more exciting. One idea I had was to make a little fairy outfit, so I whipped up a little skirt from washable organza, added some ribbon for trim to go from blah to ta-da:

I know it's nerdy, but I cannot wait to take some outdoor baby photos with these wings on! It makes me feel like an amateur Anne Geddes (but on a much smaller budget and minus the pro-photographer skills). I also made a matching pacifier clip with the leftover ribbon and still had enough organza left to make a flower version:

With a flowery bustle at the back:

And not to let my embroidery skills get too rusty, I made a little freehand message with design on this one to go with the newborn diapers I'd made a while back (using some scrap fabric I had left from past projects):

Next up will be some non-baby related projects, just to keep things interesting;)

  6. Thanks so much everyone! I was so pleased to have a glimmer of an idea turn out the way I hoped and have the added bonus of being WAY more cost effective than buying something premade. It felt pretty good today when I saw some onesies with "fancy fabric" skirts at a big baby store that cost more than 4 times what it did to make mine!
